Well  for me , Valentines’ Day is for marketing and  commercialism. Some people who feel  lost and lonely  , especially romantically – is glad  that it’s just for  a day.  Some  even tagged  it as ” Single Awareness Day”  haha…

However, I just  love the idea that some people  call it “Happy Hearts’ Day”.  And heart , being a symbol of love , is the one  that we  should  call as  happy and not the day itself to begin with 🙂  And guess what ? God cares  for your heart so much that He mentioned it multiple times in the Bible.

So  below is a reminder from the Bible verses of what God  does to your heart. Even to your ValenTIRED heart.

  1. He PURIFIES it.
    Psalm 51:10New International Version (NIV)
10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Well heart is deceitful above all things ( Jer 17:9) and  from it flows the  issues of life               (Prov 4:23). So what’s better than letting the Maker purify it for you?

  2. He Makes it TENDER.
    Ezekiel 36:26New International Version (NIV)
26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

Life may sometime harden our hearts as stone or even make us feel numb . But God’s love can  soften it and make it beat again .”I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh…” (Ezekiel 11:19)

  3. He STRENGTHENS it.
    Psalm 31:24King James Version (KJV)
24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.

Even waiting has it advantages if it is  for the LORD;  So be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD (Psalm 27:14) because  He is our help and our shield (Psalm 33:20).

  4.  He CAUSES IT TO BE WISE.
    Psalm 90:12New International Version (NIV)
12 Teach us to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

The world may be singing “Foolish Heart” but be of good cheer , you are not of this world. As  it is written , For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. (Proverbs 2:10) The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper. (Proverbs 19:18) .So choose God and choose wisdom beyond your years.

  5. He GIVES JOY to it.
    Psalm 4:7
You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound.

Well , there may be pain the night but joy comes in the morning . So hang in there 🙂 He  will turn your crying into  dancing  and will clothe you with joy , even unspeakable joy  .(Psalm 30:11) Even when anxiety is great within ,  His consolation brings  joy. (Psalm 94:19)

  6. He PACIFY it.

    Philippians 4:7
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Trust that He calms the storms on the inside. Rest in the truth that we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.(Romans 5:1).May His Shalom be upon you .

  7. He WRITES His Grace on  it.
1 John 3:20-22New International Version (NIV)
20 If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and He knows everything.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.(2 Corinthians 12:9 )

  8. He HEALS it.
    Psalm 34:18New International Version (NIV)
18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

God is a miracle working God and He specializes in healing. He binds up the wounds of the broken and by His wounds we are healed (Psalm 147:3, 1 Peter 2:24). He sent out His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction. (Psalm 107:20)

  9. He GUIDES it.
    Proverbs 21:2New International Version (NIV)
A person may think their own ways are right,
but the Lord weighs the heart.

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.(Matt 6:21) .So let God turn your heart toward His  statutes and not toward selfish gain. (Psalm 119:36)

  10. He GRANTS its DESIRES.
    Psalm 20:4New International Version (NIV)
May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Take delight in the Lord,    and he will give you the desires of your heart.

For inspiring me to stand on solid ground,
For teaching me the importance of drinking enough water,
For letting me see how beautiful it is to stand tall yet spread out your branches,
For showing me that there is beauty in both being alone and being in a group,
For letting me know that in order to grow I must stay rooted ,
For instilling in me the greatness of harnessing nature’s provision for our own good,
For showing me that we need to be tough on the outside to protect the delicate life processes within ,
For coaching me that there is no harm in providing shade for others ,
For educating me that we can live with other species in harmony as we are all part of a bigger community ,
For edifying me that Everything here follows a cycle, and that we are all interconnected.
For encouraging me that in order to withstand one must adapt,
For convincing me that Patience is indeed a virtue – growth and all its fruits takes time,
For prompting me to note as to how simple beginnings can turn magnificent in the right season,
For influencing me that we were made for more than just to survive – but to thrive,
